This recipe is for my basic holiday baked ziti that is far from basic. It is just perfect and when it is cooking you know there will be family around and memories being made. I’ve made this for Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, big family get togethers and also for an average Sunday dinner. Sometimes all you need is a nap and baked ziti to get you ready for the week ahead.
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. The weather in Florida has finally cooled down. We can keep the windows and doors open so the fresh air flows through the house. Once we start cooking, the familiar smells waft through the air. There really is so much to be thankful for.
A perfect Easter meal for me would start with an appetizer of Stuffed Mushrooms and an Italian Salad. The main course would be Lasagna Rolls. Of course ending with Grandma’s Ricotta Pie.
I love lasagna, but I’m not a big fan of making it. It always looks a little messy when I make it. I would prefer to make a tray of stuffed shells, baked ziti or lasagna rolls! It looks better and I like that it has less ricotta cheese.
This is a perfect baked dish for the holidays. I would make this ahead of time and do nothing in my PJ’s on Christmas. Sounds like a perfect Christmas Day to me…
