Smoothies

Good morning!  Smoothies are a quick breakfast when you are rushing around in the morning and want to eat clean! I prepare our smoothies for the whole week so we can grab them on the go, in the am or whenever.  I feel like it can’t be done without the NINJA!  In my opinion a regular blender doesn’t blend it well.  I have the old model and love it.

Smoothies

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup of Spinach or kale or both(I use spinach)
  • 1/2 tablespoon of Chia seeds(Or Flax seeds or both)
  • 1 Banana(I keep plenty in freezer cut in half so when I need them I have them. Make sure you peel them first)
  • 2 tablespoons of Plain Greek yogurt(Any Greek yogurt you prefer.  Sometimes I’ll use coconut or vanilla if I have it.)
  • 1 cup of mixed Berries(I get the big bag of triple berry blend at BJ’s.  You can use whatever variety you like.  There’s tropical blend or just strawberries.  Sometimes I put the fruit that is gonna go bad in a day or two in the freezer and use that.)
  • 1/4 cup – 1/2 cup of Almond milk( I can’t live without the Califia Toasted Coconut.  It’s really good!)

Directions

  1. Once you have all the ingredients in the house it’s simple.  Takes about ten minutes to prepare individual servings in plastic bags.  Then store in the freezer so they will be ready to go.  You won’t have to add any ice!
  2. Dump it in your blender and blend with as much almond milk as needed to get it to the consistency you like.
  3. But get creative:  Depending on my mood I may add in water to thin it out, a drop of leftover coffee, protein powder, quick oats, coconut oil or vanilla!

I would never eat that amount of fruit in a day if I didn’t start my day with a smoothie.  I eat a lot of veggies but I don’t normally pick up fruit to snack on throughout the day! So this helps me get all my fruits in.

Enjoy!
